Creating Special Experiences

For over 20 years, we’ve worked with teachers like you to enhance performing arts experiences for tens of thousands of Maryland students. Our resources for teachers can help you prepare your students for a successful visit to the Hippodrome Theater.

Preparing Your Students

Exploring show details and curriculum connections ignites curiosity, facilitates discussions, and creates a more enriching experience for both students and teachers. In advance of your visit, consider reviewing the corresponding Broadway show study guide with your students:

A visit to the theater is also an opportunity to teach students about appropriate audience behavior and etiquette. Find our guides for 5th grade and lower, or 6th grade and up.

Going Beyond the Performance

After your visit to the Hippodrome Theater, you and your students may be interested in one of our other programs, including Camp Hippodrome, Career Pathways, or Master Classes.

As you know, Riverview Elementary School is a Title I Community School in southwest Baltimore County serving over 560 students ranging from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. As a Title I school, most of our students live at the poverty level and all qualify for Free & Reduced Meals. As a Community School, we work to bring in partners, resources, and experiences to our students and families that they would otherwise not be able to access due to systemic barriers. I know that the Hippodrome Foundation has made tremendous efforts to bring these educational programs to students and have a long history of removing barriers to access to the transformative power of the arts.
