Unique Learning Experiences

To enhance learning opportunities and foster a love for theater among young audiences in Maryland, we partner with schools to offer educational matinee performances of popular shows, aligning curriculum with entertainment.

Partnerships for Performances

Before a group of students comes to see one of our shows, we work closely with their teachers. HFI strives to link Hippodrome Theatre and M&T Bank Exchange performances with mandatory state curriculum. Teachers appreciate our effort to make learning fun, and feedback we have received is their students are better engaged and participate in classroom discussions when the class is participating in an HFI program. By carefully tailoring these lessons to complement state standards, we ensure that students leave the theater entertained and with a greater understanding of and appreciation for the arts.

Previous partnerships with schools have led to educational performances of popular shows like The Wiz, Phantom of the Opera, Aladdin, Cinderella, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, and many more.

I am writing to thank you from the bottom of my heart for inviting our students to attend “Pete the Cat” at the Hippodrome last week. Sandalwood Elementary is a Title One Community School in a high-poverty area. None of our students had been to a theater before so it was an amazing experience! Not only were direct connections made between their reading curriculum and the play, but they also learned social etiquette for attending a play. On a personal note, I had a very special moment with a student during the performance. They have experienced unimaginable trauma this year, and I saw them smile for the first time all year! What you do makes a positive impact on kids that deserve it the most. Thank you!
